Cameron and Door-to-Door Salesmen

About a month ago I posted a sign on the inside of the front door directing everyone to tell door-to-door salesmen, "I'm sorry but we don't buy anything sold door-to-door," then shut the door. We already have a "No Solicitors" sign on the front door, but the salesmen don't read it, don't know what a solicitor is or just plain ignore it.

The day after I put up the notice, David knocked on the front door because he wanted to show us something in the front yard. The door was locked, like it usually is. Cameron answered the door and told his Dad, "I'm sorry but we don't buy anything sold door-to-door," then he shut the door. It was hilarious.

Last night just as David and I got home from delivering the last of Meagan and Zac's wedding invitations, we noticed Cameron was at the front door with a door-to-door salesman. David and I came in through the back door as Cameron was telling the salesman goodbye. I asked Cameron if he told the salesman we don't buy anything sold door-to-door. He told me, "Yes, I told him that, but I also asked him if he wanted a drink of water. He did, so I got him one." Cameron was still holding the cup he'd taken to the salesman.

Cameron is so thoughtful and sweet, how proud I am of him!

Tell him to be sure and leave the salesman outside and lock the door while he is getting him a drink of water. I saw a show recently where this guy came to the door with a dead cat and said he ran over the cat and did they know whose cat it was and he walked into the house with it and all of a sudden another man showed up--well things did not go well for the family. Maybe if he's home alone, he could look out the window and if he doesn't know the person--don't even unlock the screen to give him or her a drink of water. Do you think I watch too many mysteries?

How are things coming with the wedding?

Yeah, maybe it's best just to leave door-to-door salesmen outside or even not answer the door. I need to get better at looking outside to see who's at the door before I answer it. Most people are fine, but I guess there are a few not-so-nice people out there. I think alot of the not-so-nice people show up in mysteries, CSI, America's Most Wanted, etc.

As for the wedding, I'm a titch irritated with Zac at the moment...again...

What has Zac done or not done?

Before we had TV we didn't worry about so much stuff. Maybe you will have to put a sign that says "No Salesmen or Saleswomen--THIS MEANS YOU". We had one come one day and say, "I'm not a saleswomen", but, of course, she was.

I have a sign on the door that says "No Salesmen". Someone asked why I didn't say "No Solicitors". I said I probably wasn't sure I knew how to spell it for sure.

OK. Maybe I'm not quite as irritated with Zac now...still trying to iron things out and weddings are stressful. :) Hopefully pretty much everything will be decided by this evening...

Heidi, Meagan's wedding was so lovely. You worked so hard and were the perfect Mom for your beautiful daughter. You are to be congratulated for everything. Your helpers were great too. Lots of love to a family of my favorite people forever.

Thanks, Mom! :) I think it turned out well. Thank you for your help. I'm so glad you could be there - and thanks for the rolls and everything else. I love you and Dad!
Now Meagan and Zac are working on moving her stuff from our house to their apartment. Maybe I'll see their apartment this weekend?
