I'm Fed Up with Facebook, So I'm Blogging!

Facebook is a good idea and kind of fun, but it loads so s-l-o-w-l-y on my computer, I can’t stand it! While I am waiting for it to load, I am typing my blog (on MS Word).

So here’s what’s going on:

David – went to the cardiologist yesterday. I went with him. The cardiologist is way out in West Jordan. 90th South and Bangerter. David’s cardiologist’s name is Dr. Kopu. Or is it Poku? I think it’s Poku. He’s from Ghana . He speaks English really well, but David and I could only understand ½ of what he was saying because of his accent. Maybe the more we go to him the better we’ll understand him?

Anyway, he said that David has heart disease. Myocardio-something. Basically he has a weak heart. David has lots of ancestors with bad hearts. Weak hearts – bad hearts kinda sounds wrong, doesn’t it? – he is related to Ghengis Khan way, way, way back, so…maybe? Anyway, I guess it shouldn't be a surprise - his mom, grandma and both grandpas all had heart issues.

David gets to go back next week for a stress test, then in 3 weeks for a follow up. Should be fun. Dr. Poku was cute – asking David how many years young he is and who this young lady with him was, etc. And he did take the time to explain everything to us until we understood it.

After the cardiologist, we went to several stores (Smith's, Costco, RC Willey, the Dollar Store) and spent all our money. At least we had money to spend! We came home and were exhausted.

Meagan – had to sign a song in ASL with a partner. Brandon, her partner, chose the song “Ugly Girl” for them to perform. It’s a horrible song. It’s based on the “Barbie Girl” song but Barbie “looks like a train wreck” and Ken is not very nice to her.

It took Brandon so long to take the lyrics and music to school that Meagan was getting a “D” in ASL. I told Meagan if Brandon didn’t get the lyrics and music to school soon, I was going to choose a song for her. I chose “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne. I actually like that song when I’m awake – David is shocked that I would like anything Ozzy. I am, too, to tell you the truth! I also found “Blackbird” by the Beatles – I figured she could choose mellow or rowdy. In the end, they chose icky. Yup, they performed “Ugly Girl” this morning. Silly teenagers.

Other than that, Meagan is looking for a dental externship. She gets to work 90 hours at a dentist's office. Hopefully one that is close to home. The trick is, she's got to get the 90 hours in before the end of the school year, so she'll graduate.

Cameron - turned in his class registration for next year last Friday. He's decided he wants to take some computer classes at GTI. That should be fun. He's going to take 3-D Animation where they do drawing, color theory, story boarding and lighting. He should like that. He's also going to take Visual Basic programming. At the end of that class they get to create a simple computer game. Sounds right up Cameron's alley. Our school district really has a lot of neat programs. David and I keep talking about what classes we would have taken in High School if we had all the choices our kids have.

Jarom- gets to turn in his schedule for 9th grade next week. He could actually take classes at GTI next year, too. The only thing is, he'd need to find a ride to and from the high school to the junior high. Since he's already got a full schedule next year, we've decided it would be better for him to wait until 10th grade to go to GTI.

Jarom's also decided that he is going to be in the junior high's marching band this summer again. That's a good thing - it will get us out to the parades again. I will let you know when they are. I think he has a spring concert, too.

Amber - is the only one that doesn't have to decide on a schedule for next year. I'm kind of glad. Just figuring out Cameron and Jarom's and meeting with their counselors and trying to get Meagan ready for college is enough! Just think, though, only one more year then Amber's off to junior high. Ack!

Amber spent last weekend at Kyleen's and went to see the new Disney movie "Coraline." I have no idea if I spelled that right. She said it was, "OK, but kind of weird." Something about Coraline going through her closet into another dimension where everything is the same except the people have button eyes. Maybe I'll have to go online and read a review.

I guess that's about it for us!
